Watt's obituary

Watt C. White Jr. of Stamford, CT passed away on October 12, 2022. Born in Winston-Salem, NC, Watt was a 41-year resident of Stamford.

A loving husband and father, he was a highly regarded collector who curated exceptional collections of American folk art, early to mid-20th century painted figural cast iron doorstops, important 19th century ink bottles and wells, United States and Confederate postal history and more.

An avid athlete all his life, Watt was a school-record setting champion sprinter in college, and went on to a decades-long distance running career that included 14 marathons. He was also a skilled golfer, carding 2 lifetime holes-in-one and scoring a 70 on the famous Pinehurst #2 course.

After graduating from Wake Forest, he began his career at RJ Reynolds, then upon completing the PMD program at The Harvard Business School he moved to Boston where he served as head of HR for The Kendall Corporation. In 1981 he relocated with his family to Stamford, CT where held the number 2 Human Resource job at Colgate-Palmolive in New York City. He went on to travel the world in this role and again in his next--as a Management Consultant, with Change Management Group and ultimately as owner of Watt White Management Consultants.

He loved walking laps of Scalzi Park and playing "Big Red Ball" in the basement with his cherished Granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife Jan, and his sons Watt White III and Ward White, his daughter-in-law Robyn Ziegler-White and his Granddaughter Lev Rose.
