Warren's obituary
Warren A. Zubot, September 1, 1966 - March 30, 2023
It is with the most profound feelings of sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend Warren. The loss of Warren is felt around the world, where he left his mark on so many people and places.
Warren was born in Drayton Valley, Alberta and passed away while on vacation in his most favorite place on earth, Bangkok, Thailand at the most unexpected young age of 56.
Anyone who knew Warren, knows that he has had a love for adventure and travel his entire life. Some of the most exciting and adventurous trips took him down the Colorado River on a raft, up to the base camp of Mt. Everest, the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, and countless open road adventures on a motorcycle around Canada, the United States, Vietnam, Cambodia...just to name a few.
Warren worked hard and played hard. He had a brilliant mind, and was employed with Syncrude Oil for 20 years, where he put his numerous degrees in chemistry and engineering to good use. Impressing everyone who ever met him, with his intelligence. His family was very proud of Warren and his incredible accomplishments in his career. He was passionate about educating people about the oil industry and loved a good conversation discussing the endless topics surrounding the industry.
Warren very recently retired from his job with Syncrude, and was beginning his next adventure with an extended vacation in his favorite place Thailand. He has made this trip annually for the past 20+ years and has met many great people along the way, plus introduced many of his Canadian friends to the beautiful country. There is no doubt that this is where he would have made some roots if the journey hadn’t ended so abruptly.
Warren is survived by his brother Brent & Theresa Zubot, and his 3 nieces Paige, Jordan and Rylee Zubot. He is predeceased by his parents Alex & Isolde Zubot. Warren will be missed greatly by many friends who shared his love for adventure, some of whom were like family to him, especially Greg W, Sean B & Mike R and their families.
Warren was a good person, a devoted friend, and a visionary for the future of healing our land. He had a passion for living life to the fullest. Perhaps our time here is to learn from that example, and carry on his legacy by climbing, paddling, riding, traveling and experiencing the world.
A Celebration of Life for our Warren is in the works, but due to the complications surrounding the events and location of Warren’s passing, the family requests some time to make the necessary arrangements so we can provide Warren with the proper celebration that he deserves.
The tentative date for this celebration is Saturday, May 27, 2023 in Edmonton, AB. Final location and times will be announced as soon as available.
