Warren "Warnie"'s obituary
May 03, 1951 – October 29, 2019
The Man. The Myth. The Legend. Warren “Warnie” Dale Bovard passed away on October 29, 2019 surrounded by his family, in his home in Rising Sun Indiana, after valiantly battling cancer. Warren was 68 years old. If you enjoy a good joke, a great story, a loyal friend, or a hard worker then Warnie was your man.
Warren was married to Sharon Bovard (Bailey) on September 2, 1978, they shared 41 years of marriage together. Warren was born in East Enterprise Indiana on May 3, 1951. He was one of 15 siblings born to Virginia (Baker) and R. Kenneth Bovard. Warren attended and graduated from Switzerland County High School in 1970. He then went on to serve in the United States National Guard in 1974 and was awarded the Exceptional Meritorious Service Award in 1975. Warren worked for the Aurora Casket Company for 25 years and was an engineer for Rising Star Casino for 17 years.
Warnie reveled in the quiet and simple country life of Southeast Indiana. He enjoyed going to the Bovard camp where he could delight in family, friends, hunting, country music, laughter, and occasionally a cold beer. Warnie was always lending a helping hand to others, there didn’t seem to be a project too big that he wasn’t willing to jump in and offer his support. He was always there if you needed some advice, a good laugh, or just a shoulder to lean on, that is if you were tall enough to reach it. Warnie was an avid IU Basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan, a skilled carpenter, a walking encyclopedia, a lover of nature, a comedian, a family man, and the kind of man anyone was blessed to call a friend. Warnie was a man with very few wants in life, who always put others before himself. Even in death he proved his selflessness by donating his remains to the University of Cincinnati Hospital, with the hopes in furthering medical advancements, the treatment, and one day a cure for pancreatic cancer.
Warren will be greatly missed by his devoted wife, Sharon Bovard; his son Ryan Bovard and wife Liz; his two step-daughters Nicki Scroggin and husband Joseph, and Michelle Vickers and husband David; his seven grandchildren, Megan Nixon-McCready and husband Paul, Kyle Scroggin, Shane Scroggin and wife Brittany, Caden Bovard, Kiersten White, Cash Bovard, and Reece Bovard; and one great-grandson Carson Scroggin; his siblings Linda Frederick, Bonnie Bovard, Connie Richter and her husband Davey, Nanette Daws and her husband Roy, Suzanne Bovard, Cindy Hudson and her husband Tony, Joyce Allen and her husband Bruce, Sheila Williams and her husband Greg, Leisa Jensen and her husband Jody, and Herschel Bovard.
