Wendy's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Wendy Schrilla, a spirited and loving grandmother and great-grandmother, who left us on October 1, 2024, at the age of 80.
Wendy, born in 1944 in Westlake Hospital, Melrose Park, Illinois, was a true force of nature—a carefree woman who embraced life with an unyielding passion. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering belief in freedom inspired those around her, encouraging others to pursue their dreams and stand up for their beliefs. She was a passionate advocate for women's rights, living boldly, breaking barriers, and championing equality for all.
As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Wendy transformed her adventurous life into a nurturing haven for her family. She shared her wisdom and experiences, teaching her loved ones the importance of kindness, resilience, and the power of being true to oneself. Her laughter and love were the cornerstones of family gatherings, where stories flowed freely and memories were made.
Known for her creativity and passion, Wendy delighted in cooking, gardening, and crafting. Her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth, laughter, and the delightful aromas of her favorite dishes. She had an uncanny ability to make every occasion special, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wendy was predeceased by her loving parents, Marguerite and Wayne Miller, and her cherished son, Michael Wietzorek. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Schrilla, her beloved sister, Nancy Miller, and her two daughters, Denise Wietzorek and Patricia Eubanks, each accompanied by their supportive spouses. Wendy found immense joy in her family, which includes nine grandchildren: Ryan Schrilla, Brennan Rayl, Jennifer Schnurstein, Jessica Rayl, Amber Staley, Matthew Schnurstein, Elizabeth Marrs, Savanah Hankins, and Nicholas Failla. And six delightful great-grandchildren, Claire Schnurstein, William Breivik, Eleanor Breivik, Lucille Breivik, and Kennedy Marrs. Her legacy of love, strength, and unity will continue to resonate through all of them.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Network to End Domestic Violence, a reflection of her lifelong commitment to social justice and empowerment.
Rest in peace, dear Wendy. Those fortunate to know you will forever remember and cherish your fierce love and kind spirit.
