A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Sunset Avenue Church of God, 900 Sunset Ave. in Asheboro, for Wanda Marie Swanagan, 72, of Archdale, who died Tuesday, June 2, 2020, after a lengthy battle with cancer, with Pastor Boyd Byerly officiating.

Born in Cottage Grove, Oregon on June 1, 1948, she was the eldest daughter of the late Alice Alison and Henry Alison. On Dec. 31, 1965, she married Jerry James Swanagan, who survives. Wanda invested her entire life in her family and her church. She loved sewing, the beach and animals.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Linda (Todd) Whitlow of Kernersville, Laurie (Mark) Rogers of Archdale, son Lonnie Swanagan of Brewton, AL; grandchildren, Austin (Holly) Whitlow, Jarod Whitlow, Gehry Wiesner Jr., Laurin Phillips, Katie Phillips, Linda Swanagan, Katelyn (Rafael) Turcios, Isaac Swanagan; great grandson Josiah Swanagan; sisters, Mary Alison and Donna Alison; brothers, Jim (Fran) Alison, Steve (Mattie) Alison, Jack Alison and Bob (Diane) Alison; Susi Swanagan of Pensacola, FL; a number of nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
