Wanda's obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wanda Gardener-Hogan, who departed this life on April 17, 2023. She was born on September 5, 1936. Wanda was a loving mother, a fervent reader, and a pillar of her community.

Wanda is survived by her children, Teresa Hogan and Alan Hogan. The bond they shared was one of immense love that was reflected in Wanda's commitment to her very large family, which included sisters, brothers, their children, grandchildren, and cousins.

Wanda's early life began in San Jacinto, California, where she graduated high school in 1954. She later moved to Waukomis, Oklahoma in 1979, and finally settled in Henderson, Nevada in 2023.

Her love for life was evident in her many interests and hobbies. Her taste in food was homely and comforting, with homemade potato salad and ice cream being amongst her favorites. She enjoyed sipping on iced tea, coffee, and margaritas. As an avid reader, she was a member of the Reader's Digest book club. She enjoyed country western music, tuning into NCIS and other evening shows, and she was a keen admirer of southwestern art.

Among her favorite performances to watch was the Ramona Bowl Pageant Annual play. She spent her leisure time reading, sewing, and cherishing moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wanda preferred simple exercises, often seen walking around the Enid Mall and Walmart. She held fond memories of her vacation trips to California, and loved frequenting local spots such as the Enid Woodring municipal airport and any Mexican food restaurant.

Wanda had a beautiful eye for colors which was clearly reflected in her favorite hues, orange, brown and greens, anything reminiscent of the southwest.

Wanda was a woman of substance, immensely loved and respected by all. Her absence will leave a void that can never be filled. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
