Background
It is with both heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we reflect on the life of our beloved mother, Wanda Lucille Forbes. As many of you know, Wanda was a woman of faith, resilience, and love. Her journey through life touched countless people, from her family to her friends, to the members of her recovery community.
Our mother had very clear wishes for how she wanted to be honored. She envisioned a celebration of life that reflected her love for nature, family, and the community that brought her so much healing and hope. As a woman who found deep connection in the fellowship of AA, she asked that part of her legacy be to give back to the Jesco Club in Eugene, where she spent many transformative hours. She also wanted to contribute to the Ovarian Cancer Society, a cause that affected her personally and was close to her heart.
However, Wanda did not have much in terms of material wealth. As her daughters, we are committed to doing everything in our power to honor her final requests. Yet, the costs of organizing a meaningful celebration of life, coupled with donations in her name to these important causes, exceed the resources available to us.
In lieu of flowers, we humbly ask for your financial assistance in helping us fulfill all of Wanda's wishes. Contributions will go toward:
Organizing a beautiful celebration of life that reflects Wanda's love for nature, family, and her recovery community.
A donation to the Jesco Club of Eugene, where Wanda spent countless hours, so that her impact can continue to support others on their path to recovery.
A donation to the Ovarian Cancer Society, which not only honors her memory but also brings awareness to a disease that affected her personally and impacts so many others.
Every contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. It will ensure that Wanda’s final wishes are carried out in a way that reflects the incredible woman she was—a loving mother, a devoted friend, and a beacon of hope to many.
