We were fortunate to have been blessed by Wanda. Our kids were 2 of the children she helped to raise. Our twin boys were 4 months old when Wanda agreed to keep them Monday-Friday for 4 years of their life. She had just sadly lost her precious daughter and was in the position to help us out. Our boys called her Mum Mum just as her other grandchildren did. She loved them like her own and in return we loved her like our own. She was a big part of their young lives and helped to mold them into the men they became. She attended their birthdays, hand sewed them Halloween outfits, carried them to Rainbow School, attended their weddings and so many more things that would take all day to write about. She loved her family deeply and kept us informed of her kids and grandkids daily activities and accomplishments. She was so very proud of them. When we moved from Daingerfield we didn't see her as often but kept in touch through texting, Facebook and phone calls. Wanda was truly an angel on earth and she will be fondly remembered forever and deeply missed.
Wanda was my big sister and she had much influence on my life. I was born the year she graduated. I miss her very much and very much miss our phone conversations with Patsy. She was a strong person and over came much adversity, of which most are not even aware. I look back I see how difficult it was and how she just did what she had to do and kept pushing just to “make sure she can still do it”. Her faith influences me to this day. I am so glad she was my sister. I love her and miss her all the time.
Prayers for comfort in your sorrow and joy in your memories. My parents, W.B. and Noel Cox, knew Don and Wanda when we lived there 1965-70 and they were friends.
