Although I only knew him as Allie’s dad he was always someone I respected. He treated me with so much kindness making me feel like family. I will always remember the pool parties and Dodger games I was blessed to be a part of. I know his kind spirit will live on with those that he loved. Walt was a constant source of love and support. I am so grateful that in my hardest times, as a kid, he was always a safe place. He always saw the best in us, even when we maybe didn't show our best. His patience was really something! I feel so lucky to have known him. My heart is with his whole family.

Walt was quick to answer the call to join the St. Cross mission team that built in Belize. He enjoyed the group experience and savored the spiritual journey. During that week, we bunked together in a thatched-roof casita. One morning I stepped on and broke his glasses. I was mortified, full of remorse. Walt looked up, smiled, and comforted me. He carried on as if nothing had happened. I carried on knowing I had a buddy that cared for me.
