Walter's obituary

Walter Niehaus, 84, of Roach, MO, passed away on May 07, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. 



Walter was born on April 5, 1938 to Walter Henry Niehaus and Alta Laverna Ellis in Independence, MO. After graduating from Willington High School in 1956, he went on to serve in the United States Navy.  After completion of service, he excelled as an A & P mechanic and inspector, retiring from TWA/ American Airlines in 1998. In 1961 , he met Darlene Sparks, and they wed in 1962, going on to have 3 children, Oni, Neil, and David.


Walter was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his children, grandchildren, and wife. Always trying his best to support them.


Walter was also a passionate hobbyist and could often be found preparing stained glass when he was home.


Anyone who knew Walter knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Walter was predeceased by mother and father. He is survived by his wife Darlene Niehaus, children Oni and Tony Van Meter, Neil and Stephanie Niehaus, David Niehaus, grandchildren, Lauren, Sydney, Zachary, and  Dakota, and great-grandchildren Ryker Van Meter and Lucian Feliz.  The family requests that all contributions or donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in Walter's name. There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, 2-5 PM  at his home, located at 2425 Robinhood Lane, Roach, MO 65787.
