Walter's obituary
Walter Rubaine, aged 81 passed away on March 27 2023. Born in Bermuda, he emigrated to Toronto, ON, Canada in his mid twenties.
He is mourned by his spouse, Gloria Rubaine, Son Jeffrey Rubaine, Daughter Gabrielle Rubaine, Grandson Quintyn Rubaine-Andre, Grandson Aidan Jackson, Son in law Chris Jackson. His many nieces, nephews and friends both in Bermuda and Canada will miss him dearly.
Walter's earliest jobs were in retail, primarily electronics and sound systems for the top companies in the 80's. He later turned to manufacturing hair products and was in fact, the first black manufacturer for the curly hair industry in Ontario.
Although not an activist, he was deeply concerned about racism and always supported feminism and diversity. He had many friends of different cultures, faiths and skin colours and treated all he met with equity and charm.
He loved to play games like dominos, drink rum and ginger in the back yard and would eat a fish dish at any time.
He was a beloved father and grandfather as well as a treasured uncle to many of the Rubaine clan.
Brave and stoic at the end of his days, he was unique.
