Walter Thomas Lingenfelter
03/30/1948 to 03/02/2021
On March 2nd, 2021 “little Tommy” passed away. Years later than expected. Born with a heart defect Tom was one of the first patients to be placed on the heart and lung machine at the National Institute of Health. He was a pioneer in 1958 at the age of ten having open heart surgery. His parents being told he may live until he’s 18. Tom lived fully, just short of his 73 Birthday.
Walter Thomas was born in Washington DC to William Spackman Lingenfelter and Lilian Charlotte Mary Miller Lingenfelter. He is survived by his brothers Bill and (Monica) Lingenfelter of Maryland. John Lingenfelter of Virginia and sister Denny McInturff of Virginia. As well as three son’s Wade & (Kerry) Lingenfelter of Maryland. Michael & (Amy) Lingenfelter of Arizona and Ryan & (Brandi) Lingenfelter of Utah, along with five grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and girlfriend of 17 years Cheryl Harold.
Tom had a passion for cars, especially his 2016 Dodge Charger SRT. He enjoyed a 42-year career as a Gold Certified Master Technician with the Chrysler Cooperation. He also shared his passion with the Virginia state troopers, making lifelong friendships. He loved Elvis and had a great outlook on life.
