Walter's obituary
Walter C. Leppert, age 88, of Pearl River, New York, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026. He was born on December 2, 1937.
Walter is survived by his brothers, William, James, and Richard, and his sister, Barbara. He was also a beloved uncle and great-uncle to a large family, including 8 nephews, 3 nieces, 4 great-nieces, and 11 great-nephews, all of whom will carry his memory forward.
Walter had a personality that was impossible to miss. He was sarcastic, quick-witted, and always ready with a wise comment. He had a way of getting a rise out of people, and most of the time, he enjoyed every second of it. But beneath the jokes, the teasing, and that sharp sense of humor was a man who cared deeply in his own way.
He may not have always shown love with soft words, but his family knew his heart. Walter made his presence known through humor, honesty, and the kind of remarks that could make you shake your head and smile at the same time. He was one of a kind, and that is exactly how he will be remembered.
To those who loved him, Walter was more than a brother, uncle, or great-uncle. He was part of the family’s story. He was history. He was familiar. He was the kind of person whose voice, expressions, and comments will still be heard in memories for years to come.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 73 North Liberty Drive, Stony Point, NY 10980.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Atonement Lutheran Church, 71 Central Highway, Stony Point, NY 10980.
Burial will follow at Rockland Cemetery, 201 Kings Highway, Sparkill, NY 10976, at 11:45 AM.
Those who loved Walter take comfort in knowing he is now in God’s hands at peace, free from pain, and probably still ready with a wise comment. He will be missed, loved, and remembered always.
