Walter Stewart Jones, Sr., died on December 11, 2018 in hospice. He was a husband, Mason, Shriner, Navy man and Hurricane Hunter, small craft pilot, father, one-time bagpiper, handyman and, beloved husband of Harriet Charlotte Gobrecht Jones until her death in 1989, then Dolores Reid Jones from 2000 until his death.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he enlisted in the Navy as a young man, becoming one of the first Hurricane Hunters. Upon his honorable discharge, he joined the Bell Telephone Company, later known as AT&T, and later known as Lucent-Nokia and worked there until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Reid-Jones, daughter Diane Rae Jones, and son Walter Stewart Jones, Jr.

Walter was stubborn, had a terrible temper, and refused to listen to reason. He was also one of the most loyal and loving people on Earth. We miss that cantankerous old softie.
