Uncle Joe was living with us at our moms house at the time . I had decided to go back and finish high school . To do this I had to go back and stay at moms , work part time to pay board .Mom had to go to the school board to get them to let try again . Part way into the school year Uncle Joe said to me with all the hours I was working and going out with friends that I was not going to be able to keep good grades . I said that I was ok . He said I bet you fifty bucks (alot of money back then ) that you will not be able maintain a 70% average. I took on that bet and finished the year grade 11 with an over 80% average putting me on the Honor roll for the first time in my life . Grade 12 I was over 80% again with awards in Machine shop and Blue Print reading . I had won the bet , but that is not what I really won . He gave me the drive to and determination to find ways to succeed in an education system that I had always struggled to just get by in . Thanks Uncle Joe love David
