Wallace (Wally) W. McCurdy 88 passed away on November 29, 2019 in Detroit Lakes, MN

A Celebration of his life will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Audubon, MN on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.

There will be a Fort Snelling service / internment at a later date.

Wally was born August 10, 1931 to Howard and Rufina (Lampher) McCurdy in Mound, MN.

He graduated High School in Minneapolis, MN and enlisted in the Navy after high school to serve his country and allowed him an opportunity to see other parts of the world.

Wally married Sylvia Nye in 1958, they were married for 15 years, they later divorced but remained friends due to their mutual love for their daughter, Wendy. They made their home on Lake Minnetonka for the majority of those years.

Wally married Linda Westphal in 1974, they were married for 39 years until the time of her death in 2014. They made their home in Howard Lake, MN on a hobby farm. Wally loved all animals, especially his many dogs over the years who were family to him.

He worked in sales for Schwartz Manufacturing in Lester Prairie, MN for many years, upon retiring from there he worked for Wright County as a parks foreman. He then drove for Holt Motors for many years delivering dealer trades. He also owned a video store in Waite Park, MN.

Wally had the gift to gab, he loved visiting with people, and passing on life lessons to his family. He enjoyed fishing, reading, wood working, spending time with his family, and the outdoors.

He had recently moved to Lincoln Park in Detroit Lakes, MN to be close to his family. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed.

Surviving Wally are his daughter, Wendy (Travis) Cole; 5 grand children, Shane (Stacy) Cole, Leah (Justin) Haisley, Jack Cole, Zack Cole, and Jadyn Cole; 5 great grandchildren; Avery Cole, Isabella Cole, Brady Haisley, Jacob Haisley, and Maxwell Haisley; 2 brothers, Dale McCurdy, Oliver McCurdy; 1 sister, Jeanie (Bob) Cordt. Many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Rufina McCurdy; wife Linda McCurdy, brother Dennis McCurdy; sister, Mable Brown.
