Wallace's obituary
On the evening of August 3, 2023, Wallace Lee Collins Jr. affectionately known to family and friends as “Junior” saw a hand we could not see, beckoning him away; heard a voice we could not hear, saying you cannot stay.
Wallace was born on November 25, 1987, to the union of Wallace Sr. and Donna G. Collins in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At age 7, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Wallace was baptized at Beech Grove Baptist Church in March of 1994 under the leadership of Reverend, Dr. Gregory V. White in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a young child he actively participated on the Junior Usher Board. He later joined his wife and became actively involved at Bethany Church under the leadership of Pastor Jon Stockstill. In 2022, he continued his Christian walk when he moved to Tampa, FL at Crossover Church under the leadership of Pastors Tommy Kyllonen and Christopher Harris.
Wallace graduated from Hosanna Christian Academy in 2005. After high school he attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana and later transferred to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During his college years, he enjoyed baseball and the Intramural Dodge Ball. While in college, he began an internship at Conestoga Rovers & Associates. Wallace received his Bachelor’s of Environmental Engineering in 2013. Upon graduating college, he worked at GEC, Inc. for 1 year and CK Associates for 3 years as an Environmental Specialist. In 2018, he was employed with Nova Chemicals for 4 years as an Environmental Engineer On-Site Contractor. In May 2022, he and his family moved to Tampa, Florida to continue his career with Gopher Resources as an Environmental Manager.
In 2012, on the basketball court at LSU he met his soon to be wife Autumn Westrick. Their first date was at a haunted house. On November 17, 2014, they were united in Holy Matrimony, and to this union 3 beautiful children were born, Samuel, Lillian, and Benjamin Collins. Wallace was big on family. Each day, after work, no matter how tough a day he had, he would come and spend quality time with his children. He loved his babies! He enjoyed fishing and wrestling with them. He was very involved in every moment of their life.
Wallace had many passions, but he mostly enjoyed the sport of hunting and fishing. He loved going hunting and fishing with his dad, uncles, cousins, and sometimes he brought his son, Sam. He loved basketball, the Chicago Bulls was one of his favorite professional teams. He enjoyed chess and working out to stay fit. If you knew Wallace, you would also know how competitive he was. The game wasn’t over until he was the winner! He brought so much joy to everyone. As competitive as he was, he was also compassionate and loving. Wallace was very protective of his family and sister and adored them so much.
