Vivien's obituary
Vivien Francis Brake Hollingsworth
November 19,1933 – March 24, 2023
Vivien Hollingsworth died peacefully in Central Point, Oregon surrounded by her two youngest children Greg Hollingsworth (Olalla WA) and Stacy Hollingsworth (Ashland OR).
She was born and raised in Pampa TX to Stanley and Barbara (Haiduk) Brake. She was beloved by her father, Stanley, who was a pillar in the Pampa community – and who gave Vivien the love, support and encouragement to spread her wings and soar. Vivien grew up a devout catholic and, as the first woman in her family to go to college, she studied religion at Texas Tech in Lubbock. It was there she met Clyde (Holly), the love of her life. Clyde and Vivien were married in her hometown of Pampa TX in 1954. They started a family and commenced their life together in the US Air Force, living with their family of 5 at air bases on both coasts, as well as in Hawaii and Japan. She attended cooking classes in every region they lived – becoming an adventurous cook and hostess of many parties.
Together, they lived a blessed life, for which they were immensely and outwardly grateful. They settled and retired in Shalimar, FL, where Vivien was an artist, aerobics instructor, consummate pianist, avid gardener, decent golfer and a joyous soprano in her church choir. She and Clyde loved to travel to visit their kids across country, went back to Hawaii whenever they could, and took great pleasure in the cruise life throughout Europe. Oh, and it should be said, she loved her wine.
She was a sweet soul, a bit of an enigma, and a real beauty. She was recently preceded in death by her beloved husband Clyde (Holly) of 68 years, and is survived by daughters Cheri Hollingsworth and Stacy Hollingsworth, and her son, Greg Hollingsworth. She was Grammy to her three beloved granddaughters: Ya-Ling Sale, Leah Andrews (husband Shawn), and Trisha Hollingsworth, and to six great-grandkids: Madilynne Hollingsworth, CJ Woodul, Charlotte Sale-Hollingsworth, Vivienne Sale, Tate Andrews and Isla Andrews.
Vivien Hollingsworth was placed to rest with her husband, Col. Clyde Edward (Holly) Hollingsworth who received full military honors at his passing only a few months earlier. A private service will take place at the beach in San Clemente, CA on July 29, 2023, honoring and celebrating both Vivien and Clyde. Together, they rest in peace at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon.
