Virginia's obituary
Virginia Lee Patton, 87, of Pocola, Oklahoma, passed away on January 11th, 2024. Virginia was born on October 20th, 1936 in Bokoshe, Oklahoma to her parents Everett & Naomi (Branson) Statham. Virginia Lee was preceded in death by her husband James Patton; her sisters; Betty James, Doretha Strack, Lucretia Tolbert, Sue Jane Medlock, and Patsy Wayne Wann. Her brothers; Douglas Statham and Paul Statham.
Virginia’s living relatives; sons; Keith Patton & Brian Patton. Many nieces. Grandchildren; Brian Lee Patton, Amber (Patton) Nester, Beau Patton, and Melanie Patton. Grandchildren-in laws; Rachel Patton & Joseph Nester. Very many great-grandchildren; Skylar McCombs, Brecken Smith, Kylee Patton, Elijah Nester, Brian James Patton, and Natalee Patton.
Virginia married her husband James Patton in 1955. They proceeded to have two children; Brian Patton and Keith Patton, whom Virginia & James raised together. They spent time in California and Oklahoma.
Virginia taught at Pocola School District for many years. She was a reading teacher, and even had her very own relatives in her classes. She later retired, still helping people learn how to read and even teaching her great grandchildren the skills they needed.
She then had her grandchildren; Amber, Brian Lee, Beau, and Melanie. She took care of them growing up, and they eventually paid it forward by taking care of her. She had grand-children-in laws; Rachel Patton, Joseph Nester.
She raised and spent time with her grandchildren throughout their lives, and soon enough was given her great-grandchildren. Skylar, Brecken, Kylee, Elijah, Brian James, and Natalee. Whom all loved her.
‘Meme’ was a very hardworking, cherishable, loving, and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Growing up, she became very close with her siblings in Bokoshe, and went to high school and college. She played softball and basketball.
Virginia and James brought life into the world, and took care of her peers. Virginia went to church at Trinity Baptist in Pocola, OK. She changed the lives of many people and was a beautiful, gifted, meaningful person.
Virginia had a huge heart for flowers, the color pink, and fried chicken. Christmas and Thanksgiving was the time she would get the big family gathered and share quality time together, telling her stories, laughing, and talking about her life’s past. Virginia’s family loved her unconditionally as Virginia loved hers. She always made it to events, birthdays, and important places. She raised some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their early lives. She made each one of her relatives feel special and did anything in her power to help and improve something for her people.
Virginia Lee Patton will forever be remembered by her family, peers, friends, and students. She was an inspiration to many people. Her legacy continues day by day. She will never be forgotten as she was the light in many people's lives. Many of her relatives look up to her, as she was an amazing woman. Everything about Virginia was so pure, and she was a blessing to her family. She was brought into so many memories growing up as she gave amazing memories with her children and grandchildren. Many of her great-grandchildren were given beautiful core memories during the beginning of their lives. Without a doubt, she knew they would grow up to live wonderful lives, as she did.
