Ginnie's obituary

Virginia L. Young, known to family and friends as Ginnie, passed away August 3rd, 2023, in Seminole, FL. She was born in Franklin, PA on October 15th, 1944, to Rev. Leo and Katherine L. Hastie. She lived most of her life in Londonderry, NH with her husband and son.

Ginnie was a caring, loving and giving person. She was also very loyal and protective of those she loved. You could always depend on her to be there when needed. She loved music, was gifted with a pitch-perfect voice and was an accomplished pianist.

Ginnie graduated from Charleroi High School in Charleroi, PA. She then attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA where she served as her class secretary and was a cheerleader for her class sorority. She also used her musical talents traveling in a trio for the college.

She worked as a real estate agent for Veroni Reality in Londonderry. Her hard work was rewarded with Real Estate Agent of the Year award. Despite this achievement, her favorite and proudest occupation was being a mom to her son, Daryn. He was the light of her life and would say was her greatest accomplishment. She was a devoted and good mom, always proud of her son.

Her home showed her talent for decorating and her creativity. Christmas was her favorite holiday and the decorations throughout the home displayed that. During the holidays she always welcomed family, friends and anyone who might otherwise be alone. She was an excellent cook and always baked a feast for all to enjoy. It was the joy she found in giving and and sharing with others.

She was an animal lover as she had many dogs throughout her life plus a cherished cat. Her love for animals even included watching and caring for birds that came to the feeder and laughing at the antics of the squirrels. Other favorite hobbies included crossword puzzles where she refused to look at the answers and always did them with a pen.

Ginnie was a dedicated prayer warrior and a firm believer in Jesus Christ. Her favorite Bible verse: Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.". Her favorite hymn: It Is Well With My Soul. Ginnie was taken to Heaven by the wings that held her and strengthened her throughout difficult times of declining health. She can now run, breathe and sing - all is well with her soul!

Ginnie is survived by her son, Daryn Young, of Seminole, FL and her sisters, Carol Emeola of Belton, MO and Mary Myatt of Goffstown, NH. She also leaves behind her granddaughters, Sabryn and Paige, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Ginnie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, A. James Young Jr., her brother, Fred Hastie and her parents. Ginnie will be missed by her family and friends. She leaves a legacy of love and generosity that will live on in the hearts of anyone who knew her.
