Though you can’t tell from this photo, Lynn was a few months younger than me. Our friendship spanned decades and miles. So grateful to have had Lynn in my life.
I am overwhelmed with sadness to learn your amazing Mom passed away. She and I were classmates at Arundel High School, class of 1961. We were in many classes together, worked on many school projects including the yearbook. She had such musical talent and a beautiful singing voice. I always remember getting together at her parent’s house during the summer for a picnic. She came to visit me a few times, when we relocated to Crofton, Md. I believe she was living in Baltimore at that time. She was a class act: always kind and patient. My prayers to the family.

Lynn has been part of my life for 30 or more years. Originally we met through our children as in-laws. when that connection changed she delighted in sayng that we were "out-laws". Later Lynn called one day and said "Do you remember me, how about getting together for lunch?" Lunch and a sharing of life became a frequent treasured event. When she moved to Evergreen Court visited nearly every week and would talk, laugh and of course share lunch. I have lost a very dear friend that loved me as I am and I loved her as a loving, compassionate, talented and
sincere friend. Good bye dear Lynn, I'll see you later on the other side. Love you!
Dedicated to Lynn Hanke aka Mom Lynn

I am so blessed to have been apart of your life.
I could not have asked for a better other Mom.
May your footprints forever shine in those of us left behind.
You will live on forever in our hearts.

Footprint on My Heart

when we meet
I was unsure
my father’s bride
I would endure

you welcomed me
arms wide open
I hesitated
for a moment

doubt of you
did submit
an angel heart
did remit

days went by
dreams shared
open doors
did appear

long talks
from the heart
brought us together
to never part

a bond of love
did slowly grow
closed arms
did unfold

from a father’s bride
to a new mom
new memories
formed in time

years passed by
you had to part
your love to live forever
a footprint on my heart

Lynn & I we’re born 5 months apart. Since our mothers were good friends, it is reasonable to assume that we knew each other from infancy! Living in the small community of Severn, MD it was easy for our paths to cross frequently. The church was where most social activities took place. We were in Sunday School together, then junior choir, and MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship). Lynn’s precocious musical talent had her playing piano for our various activities at an early age. Her musical talent and her wonderful sense of humor are things I remember most about Lynn.

"The Turkey That Stole Thanksgiving" - Nana loved these days so much, and was typically more than willing to join in and be dressed up accordingly. That's her elbow on the left, on the piano, of course..
Family gatherings at Lynn’s house were usually full of tiny children dressing themselves up, or dressing up the youngest, little Emily. I have memories of groups of kids presenting themselves to Lynn and explaining who they were, or what they’ve dressed Em as.

Here's another memory to start things off - dancing around the kitchen with Mom to the clarinet polka when we were little. She loved to move out of pure joy to all kinds of music, and we loved to be swirled around to the beat. Those first three notes let you know we were about to begin. "bomp bomp bomp..."

Christmas caroling with Gina Atwood, Dave Lyon, Bonnie Lyon, and Chuck Smith. Was this where the "full reverently on their knee-ee-ee-ees" family story was born?
