Virginia's obituary
6-24-1936 to 11-1-2020
Virginia A White Cantrell, 84, of Norfolk, Virginia, left this earth to enter the wonders and glory of Heaven on Sunday, November 1, 2020. She was the second of six children born to Giles Dale White and Jessie Louise Crocker White of Rossville, GA.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Millard R Cantrell, and two daughters, Catherine E Childs (Ken, who is deceased) of Central Point, Oregon and Deborah C Berryman (Rick) of Jacksonville, Florida and son, Steven W Cantrell of Norfolk, VA; three beloved grandchildren, Dave Childs (Ashley), Sarah Childs and Matt Childs (Danielle), all of Oregon; two brothers, Dale (Connie) White of Decatur, AL and Gary White of Rossville, GA; one sister, Anita (Troy) McClure of Rock Spring, GA; sister-in-law, Brenda York (Larry); four great grandchildren, Logan Childs, Kaleb Childs, Nate Childs and Bell Childs, and many nieces, nephews and all their extended families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earnest White; sister, Judy Womack; brother-in-law, Mark Womack; and nephew, Jeff White.
She left this earth after a very lengthy illness. Jesus chose to take her home on His day, Sunday, her favorite day of the week. She made it there in plenty of time for Sunday School. Prior to her illness, that affected her body and mind, she reflected a true servants heart. As she shared in one of her poems, her top priority as a mother, was that each one of her children came to know the Jesus she loved. She served Jesus for most of her life in the children’s ministry among other areas in her local church. She loved working with her flowers in her yard, needlework, music and was very smart in unexpected ways, a talented organizer, homemaker, and a quiet, cheerful giver. After being with her husband for 20 years, in various locations in the USAF, with her skills and abilities, she was also an active business owner with her husband, Millard, of 67 years.
Yes, we are sad, but we are rejoicing that we will see her again in her perfect body. She lost her ability to sing with her beautiful voice, write that calligraphy style handwriting that was so pretty, hold that tissue in her hand, walk, and speak legibly here on earth but now she has a perfect body that God made for her.
“Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
For we walk by faith, not by sight:
We are confident, I say, and in rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.“
II Cor 5:6-8
