It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia Ann Taylor (née Holt), known affectionately by many as Gee Gee, on September 19, 2024, at the age of 87. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
Born on January 2, 1937, Virginia spent her life dedicated to her family and friends. She was known for her unwavering strength, compassion, and the joy she brought to others. Virginia had a deep love for animals and shared her life with many special dogs over the years, treating them like her own children. She leaves behind her beloved dog Charli, who kept her company and brought her immense joy.
Virginia was a diehard Dallas Cowboys & Texas Rangers fan. She wore her CeeDee Lamb jersey every Sunday. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including traveling, jigsaw puzzles, crafting, and baking. She inherited a love of cooking from her mother and enjoyed hosting family and friends for home cooked meals. Her chocolate sheet cake, Osgood pies, mac and cheese, and dressing were legendary.
She really loved Galveston. She'd take all the kids with cousin Jackie and "rough" camp on the beach a week at a time. It was not unusual to pile in the car with everybody and drive 250 miles for a seafood dinner next to the battleship Texas.Gee Gee and Gee Dad were spontaneous and fun. Hard work was always followed by harder play.
She was an immaculate housekeeper that loved nick knacks and decorating her home with a very welcoming country style. The coffee was always on. The food was always rich and plentiful. There was a time she really liked to fish when they lived at Cedar Creek Lake, even in the dead of winter. She was a shopper. She never missed a garage sale or trip to Walmart. Once they drove from Texas to Tennessee just for a trip to Cracker Barrel to buy a rocking chair.
Gee Gee loved her parents and emulated them in her life. She had a sharp-witted sense of humor. She was always finding new friends, even up to the end.
We will miss the good ole days with Gee Gee and her zeal for life.Gee Gee had a deep and abiding faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. She looked forward to her faith becoming sight, and finally being reunited with her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Sharing Life Community Outreach, 3795 W Emporium Circle, Mesquite, TX 75150, at noon Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024 followed by a catered lunch. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life and share their memories.
