Virginia's obituary

Virginia Jane (Bailey) Andersen 3/24/1924 to 9/26/2022

An angel went to heaven on September 26, 2022 at 7:15 am with the passing of Virginia Jane (Bailey) Andersen.

Virginia was born to Fred and Bertha Bailey on March 24, 1924 in Lansing, Michigan. Virginia was preceeded in death by her 3 siblings: Fred Bailey Jr, Grace (Bailey) Cook and Jennie (Bailey) Dorin, her late husband Glenn Andersen Sr and her son Glenn “Jay” Andersen Jr.  Virginia will be missed greatly by her Daughter, Anita Joseph, Granddaughters, Erica Joseph, Kelly Andersen Ryan, Kathy Andersen VanFossen, and Kristen Andersen Gazley, her 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild as  well as all of their families.

Virginia had many fond memories of summers with her family at Hiawatha Club in northern Michigan.

Virginia was the team captain of her basketball team at Eastern High School. Despite the fact she never reached 5 feet, she received many athletic awards for which she was very proud of.   If you knew her, she would tell you about her love for golf and all of the trophies that lined her mantle. She continued playing until she was 91.

Virginia Jane lived a long and adventurous life. At a young age, she was a gifted typist and later ran her late husband’s (Glenn Andersen Senior) business.

Virginia was known for her positive and active life.  She spent all her years working hard or playing hard. She was an avid reader and bird watcher, an expert gardener, an highly accomplished golfer. She also enjoyed many trips with her husband to a variety of different countries. Her most memorable trip was the Sistine Chapel. Interests and talents aside, her competitive nature made skipbo, scrabble and any other game lively.

Virginia was incredibly charming and brought a laugh or smile to everyone with her humor. She was a foody.  She loved a good spaghetti dinner as well as some interesting choices like stale peeps and Mr. Good bars.  Virginia was an inspiration to many.  Her life mantra was "I've had a good life".

Virginia will be missed by all that knew her.

At her request no funeral or services will be held at this time.   A private family memorial is planned for a later date.
