Virgilio's obituary
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lidia Vargas; sons, Gene Vargas (Mia), Charles Vargas (Jennifer), and Anthony “Tony” Vargas (Lauren); siblings Eva Guerrero and Rosa Llatance; grandchildren, Carlos, Ariana, Angelo, Cruz, Mateo, Lola, and Ava; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is the son of the late Ceveriano Vargas and Felicita Anaya.
Antonio was a husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend to many. He and Lidia were married for 49 years (married on January 2nd, 1971). They met and fell in love in Lima, Peru before making their way to New York City. Together they built a life and a family in New York. He was a quiet and determined fighter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. His family and loved ones remember him for his smile, his obsession with soccer, watching kung-fu and mafia movies, and his love for his grandchildren. He lived a full and happy life.
Antonio passed away alongside tens of thousands of people across U.S. who have fought coronavirus. Due to the current pandemic, we are not able to celebrate his passing in the way we would like to or in the way he deserves. In the near future, we will have a proper celebration, filled with laughter, dancing, memories, and his loved ones. We will share details for a funeral services at a later date.
Condolences can be mailed to Lidia Vargas at 4 Fifth Avenue, Smithtown, NY 11787.
