Virgil William Hoppe March 9, 1941 – November 2, 2024 Virgil William Hoppe, a cherished resident of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, in the comfort of the home he once shared with his beloved wife, Barbara. Born on March 9, 1941, Virgil lived a life marked by dedication, service, and faith, leaving behind a legacy that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Virgil served his country with honor and distinction. His time in the military was a source of immense pride for him, and he often spoke of the camaraderie and sense of duty that defined his years of service. Virgil's commitment to his country was matched only by his devotion to his faith. As a devout man of God, he was a regular attendee of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, where he found solace and community. Virgil was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Barbara, whose partnership and love were the cornerstones of his life. Together, they built a family rooted in love and resilience. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Daniel and John “Jack” Hoppe, whose memories he cherished deeply. Virgil is survived by his son Sean, daughter-in-law Callie, and many grandchildren: Jessica, Erin, Allison, Jamie, Erin, Shelly, John, and Jeremiah, as well as numerous great-grandchildren who brought joy and laughter into his life. Virgil's family was his pride and joy, and he took great pleasure in watching them grow and thrive. Throughout his life, Virgil was known for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering faith. He was a man who valued hard work and honesty, traits that he instilled in his children and grandchildren. His gentle spirit and wendeared him to friends and family alike, and his presence will be sorely missed. Virgil's ashes will be lovingly kept by his son Sean, ensuring that his memory remains close to those he held dear. As his family and friends gather to celebrate his life, they will remember a man who lived with purpose and grace, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. In remembering Virgil William Hoppe, we honor a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and faith.
