Vinu M. Patel (82) of Khandhali in Kaira District of Gujarat, India, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2021. He loved his kids and adored his grandchildren. The importance of passing along a personal legacy to his children was his life’s motivation and dream.

Vinu was the youngest of 7 children born on January 1st, 1940 to Maganbhai and Diwaliben Patel. Vinu is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Ranjan; his children Reena and Shilpa; and grandchildren Anika and Aman.

Vinu will be most remembered by those who knew him best for his love of family, never ending energy, and an exuberant zest for life! Vinu also had a passion for food especially everything deep fried and spicy. Vinu was smart, engaging, curious, and could quickly charm a room with his sharp wit. A real “People Person”. Vinu came from poverty but with “grit” as his guide, overcame many obstacles in his life. He fought for his education with a never-ending fortitude and was determined to learn the English language while earning a degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Rolla, Missouri.

Accomplishments: Honorable Father and Husband. 30+ successful years at 3M as Chemical Engineer producing 18 certified patents. President of Gujarat Samaj committee and active role at the BAPS Temple. Sponsorship of 31 family members into the U.S.

Thank You: Throughout Vinu’s life experiences emerged lifelong friendships and connections that he cherished deeply. We are grateful to celebrate his life with you and appreciate your kindness and support of our family through this time. Vinu believed in the power of education. One of his last wishes was that no flowers be sent, but rather donations be made in his name for MN schools serving underprivileged communities.
