Vinson Derek Sheppard, fondly called "Shep" but preferred" Derek" by those who knew him, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023. Born on October 11, 1955, Vinson created an irreplaceable void in the hearts of everyone who knew him. A man of many talents and passions, he left an enduring legacy of love for construction and creativity. His appreciation for art was unique, his favorite works being artistic representations of himself. He was an avid sports enthusiast who held several records in Track, Football, and Basketball. His favorite team was the Carmichael softball team, the Cannibis Cannons. He enjoyed Hockey and all kinds of sports, both as a player and an observer. He was an enthusiastic angler, fishing was more than just a pastime for Derek, it was a preferred way to refresh his mind and connect with nature.
Yosemite held a special place in his heart. The majestic mountains, clear waterfalls, and rich biodiversity resonated with his adventurous spirit and appreciation for nature.
His "Great Work" best described as a master carpenter always inspired those around him. Vinson's life lessons were simple yet profound. "I got skills" was a phrase he often used.
Derek will be deeply missed by everyone. His legacy of love for art, creativity, sports, and his unique approach to life will forever remain in our hearts. May his soul rest in peace.
