Vincent's obituary
Vinnie was born on November 27, 1948 in Queens, New York to Vincent and Frances Bereche. He grew up as part of a loving, Catholic family which included seven siblings. He attended Island Trees High School in Levittown before being drafted into the United States Army at the age of 20. He proudly served with the 1st Calvary Division from 1969 to 1970. Upon his return from the Vietnam War, he married and had two children. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he went on to work in the automotive industry for over 25 years. His love for cars showed in his extensive die cast car collection which was always kept in pristine condition. His greatest love, however, was for his two children and five grandchildren. After spending several years enduring hot summers in the Valley of the Sun, post-retirement he returned to Long Island to be closer to his siblings, nieces, and nephews, where he could enjoy the changing of the seasons and tranquility of the ocean waves. Although his life was cut short by his progressive illness, his service to this country and love for his family will never be forgotten.
He was proceeded in death by his mother Frances Bereche, father Vincent Bereche, and sisters Patricia Smith, Frances Lynch (Brother-in-Law Kevin), and Bernadette Schillaci. He is survived by his son Justin Bereche (Wife Shana, Granddaughters Sloane and Leighton, and Grandsons Talon and Slade), daughter Nicole Burbank (Husband Spencer and Granddaughter Willow), sisters Elizabeth Focarazzo (Brother-in-Law Charles), Nancy Minior (Brother-in-Law Brian), and Paulette Sewell (Brother-in-Law Gerard), his brother Ernest Bereche (Sister-in-Law Diane), and several nieces and nephews.
The family has elected to have a private committal and interment at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for a veteran or service member in his honor.
