Vijay's obituary

Vijay Kumar Chandhok passed away on Sunday, Oct 29th at 1:30 PST, from heart failure in San Francisco. He was 77 years old. Born on Aug 24, 1946, in Amritsar in India, Vijay attended Punjab Engineering College and graduated with a degree in Production Engineering in 1973. He went on to work for Hindustan Machine Tools, in Punjab before he moved to Pune in India where he would spend more than 25 years working in various roles for the Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO). 

Vijay is remembered as quiet, thoughtful, and considerate. He liked working with his hands, whether it was building furniture, mending motorcycles, or building a beautiful garden. He was an excellent cook, very curious about the world, and had a working knowledge of Japanese and German. 

Vijay retired in 2002, and in 2019 moved to San Francisco to live with his son and his family. He struggled with dementia for many years. He is survived by his wife Neelam, his son Nikhil, his daughter Ruchita, and 5 grandchildren. The funeral will be a private ceremony with only close family members present. Please event details for reception at home on Friday, the 3rd. No flowers please.
