Vicky's obituary
Victoria Christina Forness, 75, of Nashville, TN, passed away on March 19, 2023.
Vicky was born October 21, 1947 in San Diego, California to Dr. Robert A. Chapman and Mrs. Carolyn N. Chapman. Vicky attended primary and secondary schools in Belleville, Illinois, where her family moved following her father’s separation from the US Navy at San Diego. After graduating from Belleville Township High School in June 1965, Vicky went on to study at Belleville Junior College and the University of Kansas.
During her time at Belleville Junior College, Vicky met Lawrence (Larry) Keith Forness. They were cast members of a play titled “The Last Days of Good Ol’ Bill,” in which their two characters were scripted to get as close to a kiss as possible, without kissing. Despite the repeated failure not to kiss in their rehearsals, a kiss was never seen by the audience.
Vicky and Larry married in 1967 and had two boys, Robin Michael (b. 1971) and Eric Clayton (b. 1972).
Vicky, Larry, and Rob moved to Nashville, Tennessee early in 1972. Clay was born later that year. In the years to come, Vicky would find a way to get involved in the community while continuing to care for her young family: mentor and guide, Regional Intervention Program; projects aide, League of Women Voters; intermediary between the League of Women Voters and Channel 8 Public Television, as well as on-air talent; manager, Larry’s recording-session bookings; owner and operator of MetroGnome Inc, music business computer consultancy; financier, Larry’s law school education; self-taught gourmet cook; mental health counselor.
We will be celebrating Vicky’s life and the love she created on April 30, 2023 from 2p to 6p at Knights of Columbus, Bishop Richard Pius Miles Hall, 3129 McGavock Pk, Nashville, TN 37214.
