Victor's obituary

With aching hearts, we share the passing of Victor Kay Hada, our beloved father, sponsor, and friend. Victor left us unexpectedly on March 23, 2026, only days after celebrating his 75th birthday. The shock of his absence lingers deeply; our hearts have not yet caught up to the reality that he is gone.

Born on March 15, 1951, in Hillsboro Oregon, to John and Mae Hada, Victor was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1969 and attended college at a few historical Oregon Universities.

Victor married Sherrie Welch on March 17, 1975, and together they welcomed two children, Shawn and Corrine. Sherrie and Victor maintained a caring relationship until her passing in 2023. In 1994, he partnered with Tiffany Tate, with whom he had two children, Alexander and Brianna. Though their relationship changed, they later became extremely close friends and were often seen together at movies, shopping, and having family dinners with all his children until his passing.

Victor later married Lisa Troutman, who brought new daughters into his life. He cherished the opportunity to expand his family with and was especially proud to call Leah Mahoney (née Troutman) his daughter.

One of the defining chapters of Victor’s life began in 1989, when he embraced sobriety. His recovery became a source of immense pride and purpose. Through Narcotics Anonymous, he sponsored countless individuals, offering hope, honesty, and unwavering support. His story touched people throughout the Portland metro area, and many credit him with changing — and even saving their lives.

Victor found joy in simple, meaningful moments: spending time with family, watching movies, camping at Detroit Lake, and making his famous trips to Costco. But above all, he poured his heart into the NA/AA community, giving back the hope he had fought so hard to reclaim.

Victor is survived by his children Shawn Hada, Corrine Hilton, Leah Mahoney, Alexander Hada, and Brianna Hada; and his grandchildren Levi Hilton, Jack and Charlotte Mahoney, Tayler Troutman-Bemis and Trinity Bemis; and many beloved adopted grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Ron Hada, Judy Elliott, and Laura Tamura, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and he will join them when laid to rest at Skyline memorial cemetery.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Crossroads Church, 1523 Pacific Ave., Forest Grove, OR 97116.
