Vicki's obituary
Vicki C. Weller, 2/28/1952 - 6/11/2023
Passed away peacefully at the age of 71 after battling Lewy Body Dementia for several years.
Vicki was born in St. Paul, and grew up in White Bear Lake, MN. She graduated from White Bear High School in 1970, and continued her education at Bemidji State University, followed by Arthur B. Ancker Memorial School of Nursing where she graduated in 1975. Vicki quickly began a devoted career as a Registered Nurse—serving multiple facilities in Minnesota.
Being thirsty for knowledge and having a passion for both nursing and business, Vicki further continued her education and received a BA in Business Administration at Metropolitan State in 1990. Her unique combination of education and experience in both business administration and healthcare, ultimately led her to having the honor of serving as Director of Nursing at Ramsey County Care Center for over a decade, until her retirement.
To say that Vicki was an avid hockey fan would be an understatement! Her love of the sport began when her father, prominent boxing coach and promoter, Emmett Weller, would bring Vicki to watch local hockey games as a youngster. Into her young-adult years, she would often go on road trips with friends to attend games, cheering on her favorite hockey teams (including The Northstars and The Blackhawks), and having one heck of a time along the way!
Vicki was also known to host some pretty exciting and raucous card parties at her family home on Bald Eagle Lake, and certainly knew how to entertain and enjoy!
Oh how she would light up while sharing stories of those fond memories with her young nieces and nephews.
Vicki was fun, fierce, fancy, and a force to be reckoned with!
She will be deeply missed by her brother Don (Mary) Weller, Nephews David (Gena) Weller, Daniel (Gina) Weller, Donn (Diana) Weller, niece Niki (William Wigstrom), cousin and best friend Kathy Clark, long time friend Mary Kaye LaPointe (Gary Staus) and dozens of cousins, grand-nieces & nephews, co-workers, friends and care-givers.
Preceded in death by her father, Emmett, mother Viola, grand-niece, Lyndsey Weller and, of course, her beloved Aunt Alice Langevin, who was like a mother to her.
Special thanks to the incredible staff at Elk Ridge Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Maplewood and Gentiva Hospice, for helping to take such amazing care of Vicki in her final months; giving her the best quality of life possible. And for providing such great support and compassion to her family at this difficult time.
Private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Celebration of Life to be held at the home of Vicki’s niece at a later date.
