Victoria's obituary
Victoria Elizabeth “Vicki” Phillips, born March 21, 1951, in Paxton, Illinois, peacefully joined her heavenly family on March 9, 2025. She was the daughter of Raymond Tucker and Bettie (Ross) Tucker.
Vicki is survived by her devoted husband, Melvin Phillips of La Grange; her son, Mathew Phillips and his wife Erin of Louisville; and her daughter, Brittany (Phillips) Slater and her husband Jason of Montgomery, Illinois. She was a proud and loving “Nana” to her four cherished grandchildren: Grey, Roxie, Lexi, and Aiden.
Throughout her life, Vicki pursued a variety of careers, beginning with her first job at Dairy Queen before working as an apartment manager and mortgage lender. However, her true passion lay in crafting. She was a dedicated artisan in the craft show circuit, creating hand-painted wooden decorations and shirts before mastering digital art through vinyl-decorated apparel, home goods, and sublimation. She especially loved sharing creative projects and cooking with her grandchildren.
Vicki was one of a kind, a force who could level you with a gaze when you did something wrong and smother you with love the rest of the time. She overcame so many obstacles throughout her life but always fought her way through and was strong until the very end. She was a steadfast supporter of her son during his time with the Marching Illini and medical school journey, as well as a guiding presence for her daughter through motherhood and career pursuits. Vicki and Mel had a long and fruitful marriage coming up on 50 years in May.
A celebration of Vicki’s life will be held on March 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Covenant Methodist Church in La Grange, Kentucky.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
