Vicki's obituary
Vicki Lee Hubbs, 66, of Huber Heights went to her Heavenly home on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Vicki was born August 7, 1957 and was a lifelong resident of Dayton. Vicki met the love of her life, Larry, when they were both employed at Color Q in Dayton. Larry and Vicki were happily married for over 35 years. She was an only child but grew up with her cousin Joyce as sisters and their children referring to Vicki and Joyce as "aunt".
Vicki had a sense of adventure always eager to travel and try new things. She loved riding with Larry on his Harley to fun locations and events with their riding group of friends. She especially loved the annual trips to Cancun/Riviera Maya, Mexico with family for the last 15 years and visits to her beloved in-laws, Betty and Graddie, in Florida. She was always there for family and friends ready to lend a helping hand or provide a delicious meal for the occasion. She was the best at making a variety of quiches and made from scratch sweet potatoes for family Thanksgiving gatherings at Atwood Lake. Vicki had many friends as evidenced by the over 100 people that recently attended her 66th birthday celebration. Vicki had a tender heart as big as all outdoors. She would do anything she could to help someone. It was always important to her to attend family and friend events, graduations, weddings, birthday celebrations and family reunions. Her gorgeous smile could light up any room. We all jokingly referred to her as “Vick- Vick” (Tom-Tom) for her uncanny sense of direction and accuracy for directions to any location ( better than any GPS). She had 3 years of being Gigi to her grandson Kai. Her love for him was the deepest of loves. You could always get one of her beautiful smiles at the mention of his name.
Her devotion to friends and family knew no bounds and she was loved endlessly in return. She loved life and fought to live it every day, battling cancer since 2012 and never once complaining or asking “why me?”. She faced every step of her cancer journey with bravery, grace and determination - never giving up hope.
She is survived by her husband -soul mate, best friend and love of her life Larry; sons Scott Lagedrost (Jessica Gago) and Kevin Hubbs (Sarah) ; Grandsons Elijah and Kai who she Cherished and deeply loved; Kai was the joy of her life. Devoted and loving parents Barbara and Robert Hilderbran; Beloved parents in-law Graddie and Betty Hubbs; Sister/ cousin Joyce Fox (Monte); Cousins Terri Johnson and Steve Fleming (Ruth); Uncle Don Fleming (Linda), Nieces Brittany Marshall (Adam) and their children Elizabeth and Charlotte, Lindsey Hutson (Stephen ) and their children Cary and Joanna, Mackenzie Fox and fiancé (Tommy Clasby) and her special nephew that called her “his pretty princess”, Jordan Fox, Best friends Pam and Tim Rihm, Jim and Jennifer Corwin and their daughters Allie and Brenna and countless other cherished family and friends.
The depth of how much she will be missed is impossible to put into words and the impact of losing her cannot be measured - but we will carry her in our hearts and memories until we meet again.
