Last night, Paul and I were watching a show and I thought the actor looked like my darling friend Veronique so I went on Facebook to see her latest pictures. When I could find one, I went to Jean-Paul's page and saw that she had just passed. My heart breaks for Veronique, for the Allen family and for all who know and love Veronique. She was so often my inspiration when she worked with the newly resettled Somali refugees back in 2006–2009. Veronique loved these kids unconditionally. She was willing to do anything she could, and she did. She gave her time, resources, creativity, energy and heart to these kids and they reaped the benefits. One boy later told me how much he looked forward to spending time with Veronique. I'm pretty sure she was the high point in his life. Veronique was an advocate and a friend to so many and she made a difference. She was so humble, so kind.  I am amazed at all that Veronique accomplished, all she overcame in her life, and I'm very proud to call her my friend. I and my family send our love to Veronique's awesome family.  She was a gem and I will miss her.
Veronique was my cousin and childhood friend.  The highlight of going to Grandmas was to see Veronique!  We would run and play and walk around the neighborhood and talk!  We loved having sleepovers, listening to music and playing at Fairmont Park.  She had a sincere love for people and wanted help others.  She loved her family and i know if she could, she would have been in contact more often.   Love you Veronique!   I know i will see you  again!
She will be dearly missed, I was just thinking about her and her brother and sister.  Praying for the family and friends
Rest in love Veronique. Always such a beautiful soul and light to those around you. I’ll always hold 2004 Christmas dear to my heart because of you! From making gingerbread houses to spoiling Taylor with gifts. I’ll never forget you and I don’t know the circumstances surrounding your passing, but I pray you weren’t alone and you weren’t in pain. I love you.
