Veronica's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mom Veronica Henely, who radiated love, kindness, and undeniable sass. Born on June 15, 1943, she impacted everyone she met with her warmth and humor. She left us on July 31, 2025, and created a legacy that will continue to uplift those who were lucky enough to know her.
Veronica is survived by her five sons; William, Daniel, Michael, Matthew and Thomas Shea; her daughter, Kathleen Shea, her siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Her sweet manner and unique personality were a source of strength and comfort to her family, and her absence will be deeply felt by so many. She was loving, warm, funny, clever, witty, kind, stubborn, mischievous, adventurous, and compassionate.
Veronica was a single parent to six kids and experienced many stressful and challenging times over the years. She returned to school in her 40's to get a nursing degree, illustrating her grit, determination, and willingness to change her circumstances to improve her life. She cared deeply about the plight of the unhoused, and would regularly stop in traffic to give away money and kind words to people living on the streets. She also had a soft spot for veterans and regularly donated to organizations benefitting prior service-members.
Veronica had a childlike love and appreciation for so many things: murder mysteries, woodland creatures, baking, card games, binge-watching shows, reading, superheroes, the beach, dogs, movies stars, surfing the web, and animals.
Veronica always reminded us to have gratitude, to make things fun, and above all, to be kind to people. Her spirit will continue to guide us, urging us to uphold her legacy of love, kindness, generosity of spirit, and gratitude.
