Veronica's obituary

VERONICA LYNN (BROWN) GRIFFIN

OCTOBER 14, 1968  - JANUARY 27, 2026 | Veronica Lynn (Brown) Griffin, affectionately known as "Ronnie", was born on October 14, 1968, to Cheryl Taylor and Abram Brown (preceded in death). From the very beginning, Ronnie showed signs of the extraordinary life she would lead. Entering the world at a healthy 8 pounds, 2 ounces, she quickly began reaching milestones ahead of her time-holding her own bottle at two months, walking at six months, and showing a remarkable curiosity about the world around her.

Her love for learning was evident early. At just four years old, Ronnie's mother en- rolled her in first grade because of her advanced reading and eagerness to learn-even though she was not officially supposed to start school until age six. The secret almost remained hidden until her teacher noticed Ronnie eagerly moving from desk to desk helping classmates. When questioned, Ronnie boldly confessed, "I'm tired of lying, I am 4 years old!" Recognizing her brilliance and leadership, the teacher allowed Ronnie to remain in the class, where she continued to thrive.

Faith was an important part of Ronnie's life. At around seven years old, she made a powerful decision on her own to give her life to Christ at Cosmopolitan Community Church, walking down the aisle by herself to the altar. During her youth, Ronnie re- mained very active in church, participating in Girl Scouts, serving as a Junior Usher, and joining the October Club. Her grace and vibrant personality led her to be crowned Cotillion Queen, a highly cherished honor.

Ronnie's academic accomplishments were remarkable. She graduated from grammar school at age 12 and high school at 16. During her senior year, she received a full-ride scholarship to Jackson State University. She later earned her Bachelor of Science from Chicago State University and a Master's Degree in Educational Instruction and Curriculum Supervision from National Louis University.

Ronnie dedicated her life to education and empowering others. She served as an educator, Teacher Leader, Instructional Coach, professional development provider, and school reform coach within Chicago Public Schools. Her commitment to excellence and student success touched the lives of countless educators and children. On April 21, 1990, Ronnie proudly became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, through the Lambda Chapter in Chicago, Illinois, continuing her lifelong commitment to service and scholarship.

In 2008, Ronnie relocated to Arizona, seeking new opportunities and warmer weather while joining her father. While in Phoenix, she became a member of First Institutional Baptist Church and continued her dedication to community and faith.

Throughout her career, Ronnie continued to achieve and lead. She became a National Board-Certified Teacher and earned another Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Arizona State University. She served as a Title ILS PLC Specialist with the Maricopa County Education Service Agency and as faculty for the Professional Development Leadership Academy with the Arizona Department of Education. Ronnie's impact extended across the globe. She served as Founding Director of Ignite School in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Founding Principal with Aldar Education, Co-Founder of the Common Core Network, and Vice President of Education for Copper Stone Education. She was also preparing to reach another milestone earning her Doctorate in December 2026.

Veronica lived a life defined by faith, excellence, leadership, and love. She was a trailblazer, a passionate educator, and a light in the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through her children, family, students, colleagues, and the many lives she inspired around the world. Her brilliance, compassion, and determination will never be forgotten. Above all, Ronnie cherished her role as a mother. She leaves to cherish her memory her four beloved children: Levon Harris, Alexander Griffin,  Amber (daughter in-law Stephanie) Griffin, and Nia Dean and three Grandchildren Taylor, Logan and Trinity. Her Mother Cheryl and Stepfather William West. Two Brothers Marcus Taylor(Rhonda) Abram Brown Jr, One sister La Tosha Brown(Sean), Uncle Robert Taylor, a devoted cousin Adunni Allen, along with many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
