Vernon's obituary
Vern graduated from Lakewood High School in Colorado and attended Western State College in Gunnison Colorado. Vern enjoyed pursuing his love of technology during his career of more than 30 years at Mountain Bell, AT&T, Lucent and Avaya. In addition to the telecommunications industry, Vern enjoyed working closely alongside his brother Marty in a commercial and residential window and doors firm. Given the focus of his professional life, his family always laughed about the fact that Vern spoke most fondly of his time as a cook at Dino’s Italian Food in Lakewood. Vern retired in 2013 and moved with his wife Jennifer to New Port Richey, Florida in 2017.
Vern loved the four seasons and the mountains of Colorado and was a lifelong loyal fan of the Denver Broncos. He spent his early summers camping with his friends and family and his early winters skiing. In his later years, Vern enjoyed gardening, working on his cars and caring for his yard. He had a tremendous green thumb and enjoyed making his home feel like a jungle oasis. Vern loved cooking spicy foods and listening and sharing his vast and diverse music collection.
His grandchildren include Kasey Kruse, Mackenzie Kruse, Caden Kruse, Gavin Kruse, Kylan Sigrist, Keira Sigrist, Jayden Trottier and Leah Trottier. He loved his grandchildren deeply and they always brought a smile to his face and a sparkle to his eyes.
A private celebration of Vern’s life will be held in the Colorado mountains in the spring of 2019. Memorial donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation ( https://parkinson.org/)
