Vernon's obituary

Vernon passed away on May 11, 2023, at the age of 66. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was born in Mobile, Alabama on May 11, 1957, to the late Cora Lee and Vernon Dunn Jr. He joined the Army and served for 13 years where he performed as a medic, medical assistant, and dermatologist technician. After leaving the military, he served as a civil servant working as an Accountant Technician for 226 Finance in Kaiserslautern, Germany and Red Stone Arsenal in Madison County, Alabama. He retired after serving a total of 38 years of Army and civilian service.

He never missed a moment to lend a helping hand and quickly became a devoted friend. He loved the Lord and eagerly awaited his weekly bible studies with his brothers in Christ. He loved to travel and meet new people. In 1984, he met and fell in love with Conchita, and they spent 40 wonderful years together. Vernon loved football and watching westerns. He was definitely up for all challenges no matter if it was snorkeling or riding the banana boats, he just enjoyed life to the utmost and created new experiences.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Vernedette (Tootie) Dunn, brothers, Jerome Dunn, and Melvin Dunn. Vernon is survived by his wife Conchita of Hahira, Georgia; son, Quinton Marcel Dunn of Newport News, Virginia; daughters, Marquita Dunn Hahn and her husband Bud Edmond Hahn of Weston, Colorado; Alexcia Nicole Dunn of Hahira, Georgia; 7 grandchildren; brothers, James Blackledge, Anthony Blackledge, Reginald Dunn, and Marvin Dunn; sister, Melody Dunn, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Outreach Mission Church of God, 2140 Montpelier Ave., Macon, Georgia 31204 with Reverend James P. Jackson officiating.

The family asks that flowers be sent to 1217 Spartan St. Macon, Georgia 31217. Messages of sympathy can be left for the family by visiting www.musicfuneralservices.com. The Dunn family is being served by the professional and compassionate staff of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta.
