My condolences to Vera's family. I first met Vera when we worked ant San Mateo county and I still use some of the materials she shared when she was getting ready to move east. She always had funny stories and a quirky sense of humor. .

I met Vera at in a German class at Foothill Junior College in Los Altos, CA in 1973. We became good friends and maintained that friendship through the years. She attended my marriage ceremony in 1977 to John Moses. We moved to Falls Church, VA in August 1977, but we saw each other off and on in the following years. Whenver she was at our house John made her spagetti with meat sauce which she loved.
Whenever I was in California we got together and after we moved she would sometimes stop in Virginia on her way home from one of her many travels. When she moved to Delaware we would stop by to see her on our way to Rehobath Beach (and drop off spaghetti with meat sauce for her to eat.
What always amazed me about Vera was how she lived her life to the fullest. She loved to travel, eat German food and drink German beer, fly airplances. She had planned on coming to visit us in Falls Church. but was feeling very poorly and soon thereafter was diagnosed with cancer. We drove to Delaware to see her a few times, and she finally seemed to be feeling a little better and looking forward to traveling once again, and then found out the cancer had returned. We stopped by to see her a couple days before she passed away, and she mentioned John's spaghetti. I still can not believe she is no longer alive and still miss her, and think of her often.

I knew Vera since I was 11 years old when my mother and I came to California. She became veey good friends with my mother. We spent a lot of time in Serra park, went to the movie theater, restaurants. She was always so full of energy and open to life. A few years later, Vera even visited us in Croatia during her stay in Europe. We'll always remember this beautiful woman with love and she will stay in our hearts forever.

Where do I begin. Vera's death "broke" me. We were lifelong friends since high school. Up to the time she moved to Delaware we spent many happy times together, We were always there for each other and had plans to do many more things together. We had planned a trip to Romania, on her "bucket list" and a few more destinations, before she became ill. Although we could not see each other the last few years due to the distance and my family obligations in California, we often chatted by phone, emailed, and texted. I will always miss her terribly. Our lunches, holidays, celebrating our birthdays together and being confidants. She was supportive through my bout of cancer some years ago. I am so grateful that Vera had Hedy by her side to see her through this terrible disease. I know it wasn't easy for Hedy.
Always in my Heart and Memories
Your friend through eternity

Vera will be remembered by many in the Zecher beer stein organization as she served as President in the 1980's. She was friendly & made you feel welcomed. I wish I had more time to hang around with her while she lived in California. She will be missed, a great lady.
