Vera's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Vera A. DeLoach, aged 75, on May 1, 2025.
Born in 1949, Vera was a beloved mathematics teacher in Sanford, Florida, shaping middle school students' young minds and enabling them to conquer algebra. Vera’s passion for education was boundless. Her innovative “Algebra and Fries” program, offering after-school algebra tutoring at a local Burger King, transformed many students’ lives by making math accessible and engaging. In 1998, Vera received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, one of the nation’s highest honors for K-12 math educators. She also led Millennium Middle School teams to remarkable success in the Bayer/National Science Foundation national science competition, securing second and third place awards in the late 1990s and returning for a third trip in 2001.
Known for her dedication and infectious enthusiasm for making algebra accessible to all students, Vera was a beacon in Sanford. She inspired students, colleagues, and friends with her commitment to learning and community. She leaves behind a legacy of education, resilience, and quiet love.
Vera is survived by her family, countless former students, and beloved colleagues and friends in the Sanford community. Services to lay her to rest will be held at a date to be announced, with details shared on her memorial page here at Ever Loved and on Facebook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to this crowdfunding campaign on everloved.com to cover her final expenses.

Inseparable, they enjoyed their lives in the beautiful, peaceful mountains of East Tennessee.
Vera's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit and love live on. May she find eternal peace as she is welcomed into the arms of God.
