Veleta Reid was born on November 30, 1922 in Wild Cane District, St. Anns, Jamaica West Indies to Egbert Reid and Lucy Heard. She has 5 Brothers Charles, Lascelle and the late Garnel, Kenneth and Hughton and 1 sister Rose (late). She attended school in St. Anns and was blind at the age of 29.

She migrated to the United States in 2003 and settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She became a member of First Baptist Church of Sunrise in the Fall of 2003 and was an active member up until her death. She was such a kind, caring, humble grateful Woman of God. She loves her gospel music that would be played by her bedside throughout the day. If you met her you most certainly would never forget her, that’s how unforgettable she was. She was well cared for by her daughter and lived life to the fullest at the age of 100 years & 4 months until the Lord called her home.

3 grandchildren: Karla & Orett (Husband), Rohan & Michelle (Wife), Robert & Michele (Wife), 8 Great-Grandchildren: Steven, Stefan, Stefanie, Nadia, Brandis, Kyle & Cristian, Brandon,  3 Great-Great-Grandchildren: Annabelle, Kymani & Naya, 2 Brothers: Charles & Lascelle. She also leaves behind nieces Karen & Mary (JuJu) & Marcia and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, in-laws and many great friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace with our Lord and Savior.
