Vaughan with his FBC Big Band…
1980, Houston, TX, USA
Vaughan with his FBC Big Band at a Fund raiser in Houston.
Over and above the laughter and great times of motorcycle riding together and playing horn together there was the kindness. Vaughn always tried his best to represent Christ in all that he did. To know Vaughn was to know Christ.

Another memory that I have treasured for many years was a time when I had a friend from Sioux Falls who was undergoing bone marrow transplant and cancer treatments at the Anderson Medical Center in Houston. When Vaughn learned that I was going to spend a week with that friend in order to give his wife a break from her vigilant watch, Vaughn arranged to pick my friend up and take us out for a spin in his convertible. I will never forget Vaughn's words to my friend from Sioux Falls, "Any friend of Ron's is a friend of mine"! Vaughn took us to Galveston, Texas - with the top down at my friends request. We ate fresh lobster and prayed, laughed and cried together just like old times.

That next Sunday, Vaughn arranged a special Sunday School Class for my friend and I to attend and then along with a paster from 1st Baptist Church, provided a smaller special Sunday morning Chapel Service where those present were invited to lay hands on our friend and pray for healing. This smaller more intimate service was an amazing moment for us to attend instead of the huge huge regular services in the main church. Thanks again Vaughn...

Vaughn was best man at my our wedding way back in 1975. Vaughn, Ken Helmers and I once laughed so loud at my place in Sioux Falls that we were asked by the neighbors to please hold it down. That made us laugh all the harder and soon the police arrived to help us shut up...I still chuckle when I think of it. Peggy, I am sorry to hear so late regarding Vaughn's passing! You were everyones Mom!!! Love you... Non of us would have become without you!!! THANK YOU Vaughn for sharing your Mom and family. Dr. Ronald Stoneback

Vaughan led the orchestra when we were attending FBC-Houston. He had a sense of humor and enjoyed playing trumpet and music in general. We were surprised and saddened to read of Vaughan's death at an early age and send our deepest condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed, but we believe he is with the Lord.

Vaughan reading his bible. He always laughed at my bible and said it was broken, I'm Catholic and our bible has more books than his bible does. He always joked around.
