Vanessa's obituary
Vanessa Brown (Duran), 51, originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a brief resident of Lubbock and San Antonio, Texas, passed away on May 2nd, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife to David and a cherished mother to Alaina, Autumn, and Grayson. Vanessa was the beloved daughter of Dorothy Benavidez and Joseph Duran. Her kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her.
Vanessa dedicated her career to public service through the Social Security Administration, the United States Forest Service, and the USDA. She was known for her integrity, tireless work ethic, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
She had a deep love for the beach, finding peace and joy in the sound of the waves and the feeling of sand beneath her feet. Some of her happiest moments were spent by the water, surrounded by family and friends, soaking up the sun and creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Above all, Vanessa was passionate about being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her spirit of generosity, compassion, and strength was evident in every part of her life. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Vanessa is survived by her husband David Brown; daughters Alaina Bright and Autumn Bright; stepson Grayson Brown; granddaughter Madeleine; her parents, Joseph Duran and Dorothy Benavidez; step mother Anna Gurule-Duran; siblings Karl Duran, Joseph Duran, Jacob Duran, and Antoinette Duran; sister-in-law Dedra Duran; niece Myriah; and nephews Jacob Jr, Paul, Jade, Gavin, and Dylan. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held at New Beginnings Church Of God (4770 Montgomery Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109) on May 17th at 11:00 AM.
