Van's obituary
He is survived by his Aunt Ernestine Holmes, Aunt Juanita and Uncle Willie Jones, daughter, Tyneisha Jones Gibbs, son in law Blair Gibbs and beautiful granddaughter, ReNee Lillian Rose. He was the former husband and cherished friend of Marcia White. Dear friend, companion and partner of Kim Short.
Father in love to Lynora, Trish Helena, Elbert, Shaquona, Kamilah, Al-Fatir, Ishmael and Shavon.
Further survived by cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The name Wali means “friend”, "custodian", "protector", "helper". For those who knew him well, they knew he was a friend indeed. An avid storyteller with the gift of gab, a cook, a truck driver, an entrepreneur, a mechanic, and a fixer. Wali could fix anything, often working on old cars in his past time. Everyone gravitated towards him because of his keen listening ability and sage advice. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a snazzy dresser with reptile shoes, a race car driver and lover of classic automobiles, a devout brother of Masjid Ibrahim and a man who would give you the shirt off of his back.
We ask that you remember Abdul Wali Hassan Muhammad and his family in your prayers. May Allah have mercy on his soul, forgive his sins, and grant him a place in Jenna (paradise).
The family thanks Safe Hands Removal and Janazah Service and James H. Robinson Funeral Home, Brooklyn, NY whom the services were entrusted to.
