Valerie's obituary

Valerie Marie Stout (Commiso) passed away on January 18, 2025, in Trenton, New Jersey, Capitol Health Regional Medical Center, the very hospital where she was born when it was known as Helene Fuld Hospital. She was the 3rd of 7 children born to her mother, Dolores, Charlotte Shepherd.

Valerie was predeceased in death by her beloved husband of 35 years Joseph Stanley Stout Sr. , who passed away on October 26, 2021. Their enduring bond and shared life together were a testament of love and partnership.

Throughout her life in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, Valerie embraced every moment with vibrancy and an adventurous spirit. Her zest of life led her to pursue a wide array of hobbies and activities that brought joy not only to herself, but also to those around her. Whether she was bowling for trophies or baking delicious treats, Valerie put her heart into everything she did. She found a delight in all kinds of crafts , vacationing with loved ones, singing karaoke with gusto, ski skiing down snowy slopes, zip lining through treetops, horseback riding through trails and even the thrill of motorcycle riding. She enjoyed the camaraderie of bingo nights and the excitement of winning at the casino. A skilled gardener and avid shopper, Valerie‘s passions reflected her boundless energy and love for life.

Valerie’s generosity extended far beyond her immediate circle. Over the years, she opened her home to numerous foster children. Even in passing, Valerie continued to give selfishly – her organ donations granted 3 recipients a second chance at life. Additionally, she donated her body to Science for education research purposes – a final act of altruism that optimized her giving nature.

Valerie will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Tammy Hanak (Stout) , son-in-law Tim Hanak, granddaughters Casey Hanak and Paige Hanak; siblings Pamela Commiso, Walter Commiso, Eric Commiso, Lisa Buskirk, Philip Sheppard  as well as many nieces, nephews cousins and extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Valerie’s remarkable life on February 16, 2025 at Kasdon’s Restaurant & Tavern at 2 PM.

Valerie‘s legacy and love and generosity continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her
