Valerie's obituary
Valerie Lynn Provenzano passed away peacefully on December 23rd surrounded by her husband, sons, and family.
Valerie was born in Great Lakes, Illinois to Marilyn (Stikeman) and Boyd Cornett. They moved to Derry, New Hampshire where she was spent her childhood, graduating from Pinkerton Academy in 1984.
Her greatest treasures in life were her two sons, David and Jacob, and eventually the love of her life, her husband Tony. She loved her family deeply and cherished the memories they created together. She cherished the trips she took to visit her son David in Alaska and adored her granddog, Sig. Being a mother was at the top of her list of greatest joys. There wasn’t a thing she wouldn’t do out of love for her boys.
Valerie had a beautiful, gentle voice that could calm anyone. Her smile could light up a room, and her laugh was just as unforgettable.
She was talented in many ways - as an artist, quilter, and crafter, her creative spirit was showcased in everything she made. She had a quick wit and the best comebacks, something she would likely attribute to her Dad. She was known for her homemade pickles and pickled watermelon, handmade cards, and created the most beautiful cakes - her baking talents were truly endless.
Valerie was sentimental, enjoyed working outside in the garden, loved the color purple, had an affinity for great music and was never one to shy away from the dance floor. Some of her favorite places were “camp” and the back of her husband’s motorcycle.
Valerie dedicated decades of her life to serving her community, working at the Community Action Program in various roles and most recently as the New Hampshire Electric Assistance Program Director. One of her colleagues remembered her as “one of those coworkers you are lucky enough to work with only once in a lifetime.”
Valerie was a beautiful and loving person whose family will miss her for the rest of their days. Her love, laughter, and light will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Provenzano of Epsom; her two sons, David Dwyer of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Jacob Dwyer of Nashville, Tennessee; her step-sons, Anthony Provenzano and Bill Provenzano; step-daughter, Leah and Greg Ford and grandchildren Hannah, Jacoby, Grayson, and Maggie; her mother, Marilyn Cornett; her sister Cheryl Cornett; her brother David Cornett; her brother Steven Cornett; her sister-in-law Debra Cornett; her treasured friend Ellie Newman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Valerie was predeceased by her father, Boyd Cornett.
Please help us to celebrate Valerie’s memory by thinking of her often, especially on a warm spring day.
