Valerie's obituary
Valerie Ann Lux
1977 - 2025
Valerie began her journey in this life on December 5th, 1977 as the second daughter to Kelly and Ginny Lux. Born in Mcminnville and raised outside of Sheridan, Oregon she went to Willamina schools and graduated from Willamina Union High School in 1996.
As a child Valerie was very much a tomboy. Riding bikes, climbing trees, catching small animals, and getting dirty. Often with her main sidekick and younger brother, Kyle Lux. In high school, Valerie was very athletic and social. She enjoyed volleyball and softball.
After she graduated she worked at Physicians Medical Center in McMinnville. This was the start of a very long career in the medical field and she eventually became a Medical IT consultant and helped multiple providers across the country serve their clients to the best of their abilities.
March 10th 1998 she married her High school sweetheart Jake McKnight. About a year later she gave birth to their son, Lucas Allen McKnight. Her favorite accomplishment.
Eventually, after Valerie and Jake divorced, her and Lucas moved to Salem where she lived for several years until Lucas graduated. While in Salem Valerie loved playing softball and was on multiple teams over the years. She made many close friends during that time.
In 2020, kinda on a whim, she decided to pick up and move to Redmond because of all the sunshine there! Shortly after that Valerie was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. Through various treatments and surgeries the cancer went into remission. However, in 2023 the cancer returned in her abdominal cavity, eventually ending her journey with us on May 27th, 2025 when the Lord decided to take her home to be with Him, instead of letting her stay with us.
Valerie was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and an incredible friend. Her spontaneity, charisma, kindness, indomitable spirit, spunk, sarcasm, and charm will be greatly missed. Our lives are not the same since you have gone Valerie, but they are certainly better because you were a part of them. Until we meet again on the next part of the journey.
