Valerie's obituary
Valerie Jean Dixon (nee Meyer), known to her loved ones as Val, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024, in St. Louis, MO, at the age of 71. She was born on November 11, 1952, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Robert Meyer and Mattie Murphy.
Valerie was a devoted employee of Western Union for nearly 35 years, cherishing the friendships she made with colleagues like Debbie Bishop, Julie Hutchens, Cindy Allen, and Rachel Dickmann. She dedicated her life to her family and her church, particularly Lindsey Lane Baptist Church, where she served as the director of the Cubbies program.
A selfless woman, Val cared deeply for her grandkids, spending most of her time with them and at her church. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, and babysitting her grandchildren. Val also took on the responsibility of helping raise her siblings after her mother's passing when she was 18, showcasing her nurturing and loving nature.
Valerie is survived by her son Rocky Dixon, daughter-in-law Terra Dixon, grandchildren Trevor Burns, Alana Phillips, Gavin Dixon, Jackson Rahaman, Lucy Dixon, and great-grandson Liam Burns. She is also survived by her in-laws Mike Mcgrath, Laura Mcgrath, and half brother Mike Murphy. Valerie was preceded in death by her stepfather Morris Murphy, mother Mattie Murphy, father Robert Meyer, half- brother Steven Murphy, and half sister Beverly Murphy.
Friends and family are invited to attend the memorial services honoring Valerie's life, which will be held at Lindsey Lane Baptist Church on Saturday, March 23rd, starting at 10 am. Bi State Crematory in Florissant, MO, is assisting with the funeral arrangements.
Valerie's legacy of love, dedication, and selflessness will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
